Company History E&V International Ltd was incorporated in 1973 in . It was established to act as a regional centre to trade wood and construction products. Founded by Ted Thompson who had spent many years in the and had been involved in lumber trade since 1965. Ted was also instrumental in the founding of the Philippine counterpart of E&V, namely Formaply Industries Inc (FII), which continues to conduct trading and construction services in the .In the 1970s, most of the products that were sold are tropical hardwood based including our then main product lines of lumber and plywood supplied out of the . It was decided to set up a trading office in to handle the growing demand for construction plywood and lumber. Ted established business with some of the leading developers and contractors at the time, such as Sun Hung Kai, Henderson and Chinachem. Sales ofhigh quality formwork plywood was shipped directly, often by barge, from the southern to In the 1980s E&V started to develop the market for the then newMedium Density Fiberboards (MDF), particleboards and other manufactured panels, and by the end of the 1980s we were one ofthe largest importers of MDF and Particleboards into China and Asianmarkets, supplying the burgeoning furniture and decoration industries. Most of the materials were then sourced from , but as new factories were set up, sourcing shifted to Asian based producers who offered more competitive regional sources.In the 1990s the E&V continued to add otherproducts to our range , such as lumber and veneer logs, laminated veneer lumbers (LVL) and decorative veneers as well as expanding sales operations to other Asian countries such as Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia From 2000 we have focusedon wood based products which offer more innovations to existing products, especially those focusing on more environmental criteria, such as lower formaldehyde board products and FSC accredited materials.One of the main products to come from this new direction is bamboo flooring and decking products which fulfill both the requirements for high quality flooring products but also the need for a sustainable and regular material supply. We have also added to our range of architectural and engineering products, such as fire retardant panels like fiber cement board and magnesium Oxide board, and on the decoration side GRG decorative moldings and stone hand crafted fire places.Most of our products are now sourced out of China, and we offer a full inspection service which gives all our clients peace of mind that quality standards are adhered to.
