Pilipinas Kai Rubber Corporation is a business which is primarily engaged in the recapping or retreading of old tires and manufacturing of flaps and rubber tread. It is located at Kowloon Industrial Subdivision, Tatalon St. Bo Ugong Valenzuela City. The said company has been in the business for almost 16 years. The company consists of a total of 75 workforce employed: Management (15); Sales force (7); Laborers (53). Recapping is the process of recycling worn-out tires, by applying a new layer of tread rubber through vulcanization. On the other hand, Flaps are rubber strips which fit inside the tire to protect tube from pinching by beads or rubbing on rim. While rubber treads are portion of a tire that comes in contact with the road. The Company practices two types of retreading, one is the so called hot-process and the other one is the cold process. Both have the same processes of retreading their only difference is the type of rubber to be attached in the tire casing and the machine that is used during curing process. The present production process of tire recapping is: (1) initial inspection of tire casing delivered by the customer (2) venting or removal of air in the tire (3) buffing wherein the surface of the tire rubber were removed (4) skiving (5) repair (6) cementing (7) build-up (8) tread preparation (9) tread application (10) enveloping (11) mounting (12) curing [curing time for each chamber takes 4 hours. Each chamber consists of 12 tires (13) demounting and (14) final inspection Operation of the manufacturing plant is from Monday to Saturday. The company has one shifting per day and work starts at 7 am and ends at 4 pm.
